I would be amazed when I'd see him play on and on as if he was a vessel through which inspiration and pure talent channeled itself. It was apparent that each chord came straight from his soul. Thankfully, we have hours of footage to view where we can go to get our Stevie "fix". He lives on in the memory, hearts and minds of all that love him and his incredible talent.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3869308843623818842.post-38480210534592526752014-10-06T04:35:19.782-07:002014-10-06T04:35:19.782-07:00I remember that morning. Given the fact that I was a huge Clapton fan, I was selfishly and horribly hoping it was Robert Cray. When I finally heard it was Stevie, I cried. I still have the newspaper clipping. Working in a record store he was all we played that day and for weeks on. I'm glad I got to see him live a couple of times. I have witnessed his virtuosity many times since and have always stood in awe of this brilliant musician. I have yet to see anyone who can play on his level...this man stood alone. You know you are doing something right when legends like Albert and B.B. King, Clapton, Keith Richards, and many others are calling you a legend, hell even when you first arrive on the scene. He is truly missed. Then Stevie came on and blue me out of my seat. He played things like Dirty Pool, Couldn't Stand the Weather, etc. I always loved the fact that he changed things up every time, every solo. I love comparing the different versions of Since I've Been Loving You. When I heard he was killed, I had to leave work and go home. I remained devastated for months. It was like the loss of a personal friend. I grieved for Stevie, his family, his friends and above all for all the music he never had a chance to create. It's a wonderful book and reveals Stevie Ray Vaughan's life in all its remarkable, sometimes unsavory detail. It also brings to life the rich world of Texas music out of which he grew, and captures the staggering dimensions of his musical legacy. It is the first biography about SRV published in 1994 and a must read by true fans of Stevie.

-Rick BennettAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3869308843623818842.post-50563747930576204292013-12-14T12:21:03.637-08:002013-12-14T12:21:03.637-08:00Legends live on forever.
